BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE
There is research indicating that multimodal approaches to the treatment of chronic low back pain work better than treatments provided in isolation. However, it is not clear which combinations of treatments work best.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of exercise alone or in combination with manual therapy and kinesiotape on chronic low back pain.
Research suggests that multimodal approaches to the treatment of chronic low back pain work better than treatments provided in isolation.
Manual therapy and kinesiotaping provided almost no benefit over core stability exercise alone at any time period for any of the outcomes.
METHODS
- 55 participants with chronic low back pain were randomly placed into one of three groups: (1) exercise alone; (2) exercise plus manual therapy; and (3) exercise plus kinesiotape.
