BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE

Low back pain is a very common issue and is the leading cause of disability in the world. Both physicians and patients become frustrated when addressing low back pain. This study aimed to evaluate the expectations of patients with low back pain and compare the patient expectations to the assumptions of physicians to assess for any discrepancy.

METHODS

Two surveys were utilized. One survey was distributed to consecutive patients at check-in at a physician’s office. The survey included demographic information and eight questions about variables related to the medical care of back pain.
